Sant'alessandro

Welcome to Sant'Alessandro!

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a beautiful hamlet of the Municipality of Castronno, in the province of Varese, called Sant'Alessandro. In Varesotto dialect, the inhabitants call it ''Sant'Alìsandèr'', which sounds very nice, don't you think?

Come with me to discover the monuments and places of interest of this small but charming village.

Monuments and places of interest

The first stop I want to suggest is the Church of Sant'Alessandro, which gives the name to the hamlet. The church dates back to the 16th century and was built in Baroque style. The façade is imposing, with a large rose window and a series of statues of saints. Inside you can admire several works of art, including a fresco depicting Sant'Alessandro on horseback and the main altar in white marble.

Another interesting monument is the Monument to the Fallen, located in Piazza della Libertà. It is an imposing white marble obelisk that commemorates the fallen of the First World War. Around the obelisk there are some benches, perfect for sitting down and enjoying the surrounding landscape.

For nature lovers, I recommend visiting Lake Varese, which is located just a few kilometres from Sant'Alessandro. The lake is surrounded by a cycle and pedestrian path, which offers a great opportunity to take a walk or jog in the open air. In addition, you can rent a canoe or pedal boat and have fun on the water.

Let's discover Sant'Alessandro: monuments and nature in the province of Varese.

Notes

The hamlet of Sant'Alessandro is part of the Municipality of Castronno, which is about 6 kilometres away. The surrounding area offers many other tourist attractions, such as the Sacred Mountain of Varese, the city of Varese with its parks and museums, and Lake Maggiore with its splendid islands.

If you plan to visit Sant'Alessandro, don't forget to bring a camera with you, because there are certainly many landscapes and monuments that deserve to be immortalized.

So this was my short tour of Sant'Alessandro. I hope you enjoyed it and that you are ready to plan your next visit to this beautiful Lombard village. See you soon!
