Castronno

Welcome to Castronno: a small and historic town in Lombardy

Castronno, or Castrónn in the Varesotto dialect, is a historic town located in the province of Varese in Lombardy, Italy. With a population of 5,031 inhabitants, the town has an ancient history that goes back to the memory of scholars.

The History of Castronno

Although the town was founded in an unknown era, it is known that Castronno was involved in the struggle between the Della Torre and Visconti families, as well as between Milan and Como during the Middle Ages. However, the origin of the town remains a mystery. Many scholars believe that the town was founded by the Romans, but there is no evidence to support this theory. However, the etymology of the name Castronno seems to be related to the Latin word "castrum", which means fortified settlement in Roman times.
