In fact, the meadows were carefully tended to ensure adequate nutrition for the animals and up to three annual cuts of hay. In October, instead, the "patos" (a collection of leaves and weeds) was collected for the preparation of winter beds for the animals.
In addition, the cutting of plants represented considerable benefits for merchants, while agriculture represented an important source of sustenance for families.

The houses of the village reflected the needs of the families who devoted themselves to it: in addition to being a place of work, they were also a social gathering place. Usually composed of two floors, at ground level they had a porch with arches made of local stone, which overlooked the kitchen and the stable, while above, connected with wooden stairs, there were the living quarters with small windows.
