Castello di Annone

Welcome to Castello di Annone

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about the municipality of Castello di Annone, a small town in Piedmont with a population of 1871 inhabitants. Located in the province of Asti, Castello di Annone has a rich and fascinating history.

History

The name of the municipality derives from the Latin ''ad nonum'' (to nine), as it is nine Roman miles away from Asti. In the Middle Ages, Castello di Annone became an important center of merchants and financiers and was a strategic point of passage. However, the city suffered severe damage during the Spanish attacks of 1644.

In addition to historical events, the municipality has also had to deal with the effects of a serious flood of the Tanaro river in 1994 that caused damage to the territory.
