The town of Cassinelle is located on the hills between the Amione stream valley and the Caramagna valley. History
The first historical records about Cassinelle date back to the end of the tenth century when it was part of the Suol d'Aleramo mountain community. In the 13th century, the area was under the control of the Bosco marquisate and then the Malaspina family. During the 14th century, the Malaspina received the territory of Cassinelle from the Doge of the Republic of Genoa and remained under their control until 1417 when the Genoese removed them from power. The area then passed under the control of the Monferrato marquisate and later under the dominion of the House of Savoy. During the War of the Austrian Succession, Cassinelle was used as a base of operations against the Austrian soldiers stationed in Rossiglione.
