The municipality of Cassina Valsassina has an ancient history dating back to the medieval period when the territory was part of the fiefdom of the Della Torre. Subsequently, it became part of the Valsassina. During the Fascist period, it was annexed to Cremeno, while since 1948 it has been an autonomous municipal entity.

The flag of the Municipality of Cassina Valsassina represents a blue cloth. The coat of arms, on the other hand, was granted by decree of the President of the Republic in 2005 and features a tower reminiscent of the medieval fortifications dating back to the domination of the Della Torre and Visconti.

Monuments and places of interest

In the municipal territory, one can admire the ruins of the Torriani tower. Additionally, the oratory of San Giovanni Evangelista, under the jurisdiction of the Church of San Giorgio Martire in Cremeno, dates back to 1898-1899. Inside the church, there are a series of frescoes by Luigi Tagliaferri, including those depicting the saints Ambrogio and Rocco and the apse vault with depictions of God the Father, the Assumption of Mary, and Saint George.

Demographic evolution

Although Cassina Valsassina is a small municipality, its population has grown over the years. In 1722, the municipality had 238 inhabitants, while in 1951, the population was 387 people.
