Cassano Spinola

Welcome to Cassano Spinola: a municipality with a rich and diverse history

Hello everyone! Allow me to introduce the municipality of Cassano Spinola, located on the right bank of the lower course of the Scrivia river in Piedmont. With its 1817 inhabitants, Cassano Spinola is a municipality rich in history, dotted with monuments and places of interest.

Let's discover the history and symbols of Cassano Spinola

The history of Cassano Spinola can also be appreciated through its symbols. The original coat of arms and gonfalon were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on April 20, 1959.

However, following the merger with Gavazzana on January 1, 2018, the Municipality of Cassano Spinola decided to adopt a new civic coat of arms, which was granted in 2022 by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

The new municipal emblem retains some elements of the previous symbol: the blue field and the branch of the thorn bush of Cassano. However, the golden tower recalls the coat of arms of Gavazzana, while the band represents the course of the Scrivia river and the Via Postumia, a fundamental connection route for the development of the municipality.

The new gonfalon is still a white and blue divided flag, while the flag bears the municipal coat of arms.
