Casorate Sempione is located only 3 km from Milan-Malpensa Airport and borders other municipalities such as Arsago Seprio, Cardano al Campo, Gallarate, and Somma Lombardo. The city is situated in a predominantly flat area, except for a small hill where the parish church of the Blessed Virgin Assumption is located.

Climate

Casorate Sempione has a continental climate, with cold winters and hot and stuffy summers. Fog is a common phenomenon during autumn and winter. Precipitation is abundant especially in spring and autumn, while the accumulated snow over a year is around 40 cm.

History

Casorate Sempione represents an important crossing point since Roman civilization, being crossed by the Severiana Augusta road that connected Milan to Lake Maggiore and then to the Sempione Pass, called Summo Plano at the time.

The first celebration of this festival dates back to 1926, initiated by the parish priest Don Luigi Mariani, who wanted to celebrate the 1,500th anniversary of the saint's martyrdom. The urn containing the remains of Saint Tito is carried in procession through the streets of the town, which are adorned with paper flowers and lights. In the past, even the horses of the carters and stables passed through the streets dressed in ancient costumes.
