Casatisma

Casatisma: a charming town in the Oltrepò Pavese plain

Hello everyone! Today I'll talk to you about a small Italian town that has a lot to offer: Casatisma, in the province of Pavia, Lombardy. With its 865 inhabitants and strategic location along the A21 motorway, Casatisma is a lovely place that deserves to be visited.

History: from the centuriations to the feudal era

The town has ancient origins: it is believed to have been founded as an agricultural settlement in the Reticolato centurial plain, near the road to Pavia. In the fiscal register of the municipality of Pavia in 1256, Casatisma is mentioned as the Tower of Giacomo de Tisma, an important local family. During the feudal period, the area was part of the podesteria or team of Casteggio. In 1504, Casatisma was separated from the feud of Casteggio and given to the Mezzabarba family, who resided in a large palace in the town and owned almost all the surrounding lands. After the end of feudalism, even their assets were dispersed.

Casatisma: the charm of Oltrepò Pavese

Symbols

The coat of arms of Casatisma refers to the Mezzabarba family, with their three lilies and three roses. The cardinal's hat in the symbol refers to Carlo Ambrogio Mezzabarba, who was Bishopric of Lodi and Patriarchate of Alexandria of the Latins. The town's banner is a blue and red cut drapery.

Monuments and places of interest: San Guniforte Church

The Church of San Guniforte is one of the focal points of the town: built in 1619, it was then modified and took on its current appearance in 1760. It is a simple but fascinating church that deserves a visit.

Society: the demographic evolution of Casatisma

The demographics of Casatisma have been fairly stable over the years: according to recent data, the town has about 865 inhabitants, of which about 50% are women.

Administration: the management of public services

The administration of Casatisma is responsible for managing the town's public services, such as street lighting, waste collection, maintenance of roads and sidewalks, etc. In addition, there are various events and activities organized by the local community that invite tourists and residents to participate.

Notes: curiosities about the town

Casatisma has a long history behind it, and the charm of its ancient traditions remains intact. Not only that, but its geographical location also makes it a perfect place for excursions and day trips.
