History of Zorlesco

As we mentioned earlier, the history of Zorlesco dates back to 1039. The municipal territory included the hamlet of Olza, and a church of San Nazaro was mentioned as early as 1261. In the 16th century the new church dedicated to Saints Nazario and Celso was erected, and in 1562 Pope Pius IV recognized it as a parish church.

During the Napoleonic era (1809-1816), Zorlesco was a hamlet of Casalpusterlengo, but regained autonomy with the establishment of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. In 1861, with the Unification of Italy, the municipality had 1,919 inhabitants, and the Milan-Bologna railway line passed by the town without a station being built.

In 1929 Zorlesco joined Vittadone and was aggregated to Casalpusterlengo. Today, the urban center is crossed by the Brembiolo river and preserves some interesting examples of rural architecture, such as the Cascina del lago, the Cascina Olza and the Cascina Battaglia.
