Origins and history

The name Casacanditella derives from the small Serbo-Croatian settlements that occurred in the sixteenth century to repopulate the area and cultivate its land. They built some "pinciaie" in the countryside, which were houses made with raw earth similar to the original dwellings. Although these ancient traces are still present in architecture and place names, the Abruzzese population soon took over the territory.
