Welcome to Caresana, the city of the Bull Race!

Caresana is a beautiful town located in the region of Piedmont, in the province of Vercelli, with a population of just over one thousand inhabitants. This peaceful small town is famous for its annual event, the "Corsa dei buoi di Caresana" or the Bull Race of Caresana. Here you will find all the necessary information about Caresana!

Origins of the Name

The name Caresana is said to be derived from the name gentilizio "Caresius," instead of "Caricetum" or "Carectum" as previously thought. The latter means "place where Carex abounds," i.e., the bulrushes that were quite common in the area. The emblem on the city's coat of arms refers to the hypothesis that the town's name originated from this plant.
