A brief foray into history

The name Cappelle sul Tavo derives from the late Latin "cappella" which means "shrine" or "locus tectus, in foro." The village arose in the seventeenth century as a settlement of peasant houses and depended on the Universitas of Moscufo. At that time, populations of Balkan origin called Schiavoni also settled in various locations in the Abruzzo countryside. In 1811, it became a district of Montesilvano and only in 1904 obtained municipal autonomy under the name of Cappelle. In the post-war period, the village experienced a strong expansion and became an agricultural and commercial center of connection between the metropolitan area of Pescara and the Vestina area.
