The beauty of Capaccio Paestum
Hello friends! Today I will talk to you about Capaccio Paestum, a beautiful town in the province of Salerno, in Campania. This city is famous for its archaeological site, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. In addition, in 2013 it was granted city status thanks to a decree by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano.
Capaccio Paestum stretches from the Tyrrhenian Sea to Mount Soprano and from the Sele to the Solofrone rivers. The landscape offers a long coastline with wide sandy beaches up to 80 meters. There is also a pine forest and a vast cultivated plain that reaches the foothills of the mountain, inside the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park.
Going up the provincial road no.13, you arrive at the sanctuary of Gethsemane and the ruins of Capaccio Vecchio. Continuing the route, you reach Capaccio, the capital, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the plain, the Gulf of Salerno, Amalfi, and Capri. Going along the provincial road no.168, you then arrive at the archaeological area of Paestum.
