Ottava Presa
A brief introduction
Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Ottava Presa, a beautiful village located in the metropolitan city of Venice.
The location of Ottava Presa
Situated on the left bank of the Livenza river, Ottava Presa borders the main town Caorle and the hamlets of San Gaetano and Marango. To reach it, you can take the provincial road 59 which connects Caorle to San Stino di Livenza.
The history of Ottava Presa
The toponymy of Ottava Presa dates back to the 17th century, when the government of the Republic of Venice divided the inland territory of Caorle into several "prese", or pieces of land, to be sold to Venetian nobles to raise money for the state coffers. Even today, Ottava Presa is the only area in the territory of Caorle to maintain this ancient toponymy.
In the Caorle area, there is an ancient villa built in the 18th century by Venetian nobles, now renovated and transformed into a hotel. Also, there is a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, built in the last decades of the 1900s and recently renovated with valuable frescoes.
The vocation of the village
Today, Ottava Presa is mainly dedicated to agriculture, but there are also industrial facilities, especially in the area of San Stino di Livenza. In addition, there is a flat area for production facilities in the municipality of Caorle.
