A bit of history of Canale

Canale was founded in 1260 by the free Commune of Asti, on land belonging to various feudal lords linked to the Bishop of Asti. The main nucleus of the municipality is located at a lower altitude, 194 meters above sea level, surrounded by hamlets and scattered fractions on the facing hills. Canale shares with other medieval empire cities the typical concentric form. In the twentieth century, in response to the adversities that had struck viticulture, agriculture turned to peach cultivation, giving rise to the myth of "Canale del Pesco" and the production of the pretender to the title of symbolic product of the territory.
