A charming place in the Marche region: Camporotondo di Fiastrone

If you're looking for a charming place in the Marche region, you can't miss Camporotondo di Fiastrone. This beautiful medieval village is located in the province of Macerata and is home to only 504 residents. It takes its name from the Fiastrone river and its location, immersed in a natural environment rich in woods and trails, makes it perfect for those looking for an escape from the hectic city life.

History

The origins of Camporotondo di Fiastrone date back to Roman times, but the village is officially mentioned for the first time in 1147 with the toponyms of "Ventiliano" and "Carufo" or "Garufo-Garufa". The landowners were monks from the Abbey of San Clemente in Casauria and the Abbey of Farfa, while the foundation of the medieval castrum is due to the archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche and the arrival of colonists from nearby villages. Despite its autonomous statutes, the municipality was always under the influence of Camerino and the Da Varano family, until the beginning of the rule of the Papal State.
