History

Campoli del Monte Taburno has a long history dating back to the medieval era when it was known as "Campora." Under Aragonese rule, the town passed on to the Della Leonessa, Carafa, D'Avalos, and finally the D'Aquino. It was initially a small village that developed into a hamlet in the XIV century in the State of Vitulano, in the province of Principato Ultra.

The settlement developed after the earthquake of 1456 when the inhabitants of the "Sala" district of Cacciano merged with a village in the locality then known as "Campora" or "Camporum." The population remained connected to Cacciano until 1700 when the Church of San Nicola was built, where the inhabitants were registered, and where children went to school until the 1970s.

The coat of arms of the municipality of Campoli del Monte Taburno was granted with D.P.R. of 3/7/1958. The Gonfalone had the same date of concession.
