Origin of the Name
Campi Bisenzio has ancient origins: first it was called "Campi", as even the famous Dante Alighieri wrote in the Divine Comedy. The name probably derives from the division of the territory into different fields. In 1862, the official name was changed to Campi Bisenzio to reflect the presence of the river that crosses the city.
History
Symbols
The coat of arms of the Municipality of Campi Bisenzio is particular: it is an ancient coat of arms that portrays a rampant greyhound with a blue collar on a red background. Above it, a gold mural crown with an open wall of four doors, three of which are visible, and sixteen windows, nine of which are visible, surmounted by sixteen battlements. The banner consists of a red cloth with the above-mentioned coat of arms and the writing "Comune Campi Bisenzio" in gold on two lines at the top and bottom.
