History
Campagnano di Roma has a very ancient history. The oldest settlement dates back to the Bronze Age, around the 16th century BC, near the Baccano Valley and Lake Martignano. In the 6th century BC, there was a large deforestation project of the surrounding areas.
The existence of a small settlement in Mola dei Monti, already occupied in the Bronze Age, and a necropolis with over one hundred tombs in "Costa del Follettino" date back to the 8th century BC. In 1985, an isolated tomb was also discovered in the area between Monte dell'Impiccato and Poggio del Mello. The dating of the 8th century BC is determined by the few ceramics and many bronze objects found within the burial. In the 7th century BC, the last evidence of recolonization of the hills of Monte Sant'Angelo located between the Baccano Valley and Lake Martignano is reported.
We are sure that the history of this fascinating town will continue to enchant us for a long time.
