Quadrivio
Quadrivio: the heart of Campagna
If you are visiting Campagna, you cannot miss a stop at Quadrivio, the largest and most populous village in the municipality. Located on a hillside about 185 meters above sea level, Quadrivio is a central point that connects various locations such as Sant'Angelo, Pezzarotonda, the village of Galdo, and the valley of the Tenza river. With over 5,000 inhabitants, Quadrivio is the beating heart of the municipal territory.
History of Quadrivio
Not everyone knows that originally Quadrivio was called "Starza". It was only with the arrival of the "crossroads" (where the State Road 91 della Valle del Sele crosses with Provincial Road 31 and Provincial Road 38) that the name "Quadrivio" spread among the locals. The village developed considerably thanks to the earthquake of Irpinia in 1980, becoming a single urban nucleus with the neighboring Piantito, Vetrale, Fravitole, and Visciglito. Today, the municipal administration is considering a new name to be attributed to the inhabited center.
What to see in Quadrivio
Although there are no artistic or historical buildings of particular relevance, Quadrivio has some places of worship:
- Church of St. Michael the Archangel
- Evangelical Reformed Church CERBI
- Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
However, there are also archaeological finds from the 4th-3rd century BC, such as those found in the first half of the 1980s, or the necropolis in the Piantito location discovered in the 1990s, a testimony to the presence of ancient indigenous peoples with Greek influences.
The economy of Quadrivio
Quadrivio is the economic hub of the entire municipal territory of Campagna. Here it is possible to find numerous commercial activities such as building materials, food, clothing, and banking institutions. There are also two pharmacies, two hotels, and numerous offices, making the village extremely active from a commercial point of view.
