The history of Puglietta
The fraction was probably founded in the Middle Ages along the Norman "via Antiquae". In 1170, the church of Santa Maria di "Pulea" is mentioned, but in 1286 the name changes to "Pullecta". In this village there was also a local customs house for customs duties. In the sixteenth century, the scholar and antiquary Marco Fileta Filiuli, found a Roman stone with the following inscription: "NAIVS SVCCESSVS AUGUSTALIS NUCERIAE MARCIAE MERVAE CONIVGI ET SIBI CUM QVA VIXIT A.L III". This stone was placed on the "Ponte di Piazza Guerriero" in Campagna.

Following a mule track through the localities "Arenola", "Valledacera" and "Lauropiano" you can reach the Hermitage of San Michele di Montenero, a small Benedictine cenobium set in the hollow of a very high cliff located about 1000 meters high, on the western slope of Monte Nero (Picentini), in the chain of the Monti Picentini. The view of the surrounding hills and the Trigento valley below is breathtaking. In addition, near the village, three casemates built by Giuseppe Bonaparte in 1807 are still visible.
