History

Nibbiano has a rich and fascinating history dating back to prehistoric times. In Roman times it was called ''Curte Neblani'' and assumed a certain degree of importance due to its strategic position, particularly near the confluence of the Chiarone stream into the Tidone River. In the 10th century, construction began on several castles, including the Castello di Nibbiano, the Castello di Trebecco, the Castello di Trevozzo, and the Castello di Sala Mandelli.

During the Visconti period, Nibbiano came under the control of the Malvicini Fontana family and was attacked by Genoese troops. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the castles in the area were transformed into noble residences used during the summer period.
