Camigliano is a municipality in the province of Caserta, in the Campania region. With a population of 1968 inhabitants, Camigliano is a small village immersed in nature, characterized by hills and valleys.
Physical geography
Camigliano is located at an altitude of 330 meters and is situated in a valley surrounded by hills that are dominated by Monte Maggiore, which reaches an altitude of 720 meters. The village is mostly made up of two-story houses and small gardens, while the surrounding countryside is cultivated with peach, olive, and vineyards.
History
Camigliano has ancient origins and was a feud of the Fieramosca family. The coat of arms of the municipality was recognized in 1940.
Monuments and places of interest
Near Camigliano is the cave of S. Michele, used for worship since the Middle Ages and rich in stalactites and stalagmites. It preserves frescoes from the 16th century attributed to Antonio Solario, known as "lo Zingaro". In addition, in the geographical fraction of Leporano, a medieval village of about a hundred inhabitants, is the sanctuary of Leporano, dedicated to the Madonna.
