History
The name Camerata dates back to the first decades of the year 1000, but the first historical document in which it appears dates back to 1309. In this year, Camerata becomes the battleground between a coalition of municipalities led by Jesi and one led by Ancona. In 1390-91, the Camerata castle is rebuilt by twenty-five families from Genga. Under the Pontifical State, Camerata maintains the status of an autonomous community, even if influenced by some noble families from Ancona. In 1860, Camerata becomes a municipality, with the toponym "Picena" to distinguish it from other "Camerata" existing in Italy. In 1947, it regains its municipal autonomy. The Cassero castle is located about 2 km from the main town, founded in 1375 by the Ancona admiral Niccolò Torriglioni.
