The Acquisition of CSTP
Busitalia Campania is a public transport company that manages road transport in the city of Salerno and part of the province. In 2016, Busitalia-Sita Nord acquired CSTP (Consorzio Salernitano Trasporti Pubblici) to create the new company.
The Transformation of the Company
The story of CSTP began in 1906 when a group of Belgian and Italian entrepreneurs decided to create a tram line to connect Salerno to Pompeii. Over the years, the company underwent several transformations until it became a joint-stock company in 2001. However, in 2011 the company started recording significant losses due to cuts in regional funding for public transport.
The Crisis and the Rebirth
In 2012, the shareholders decided to liquidate the company, but after a few difficult months, in November of the same year, they decided to recapitalize it. Despite their efforts, reductions in services, and employee strikes continued to cause problems for the company. In 2013, the Salerno Court declared the company insolvent, appointing a judicial commissioner.
The Purchase by Busitalia-Sita Nord
In 2016, the company was sold to Busitalia-Sita Nord for €5.9 million. Thus Busitalia Campania was born, with the task of managing road transport in the city of Salerno and part of the province. The old company, CSTP, became a bad company with all the debts left behind.
