History

Calolziocorte has a rich history of ancient settlements. The first human traces date back to the prehistoric age with findings of pile-dwelling structures. Later, in Roman times, the important mountain road connecting the cities of Brescia, Bergamo and Como, passed through the Adda river near Calolzio. The settlement acquired importance due to its strategic position.

The town was mentioned for the first time in 774, when Rado de Curte appeared as a witness in a parchment from Bergamo. Calolziocorte reached its current size only in 1928, when the municipalities of Rossino and Lorentino were merged. In 1992, the territory of Calolziocorte was annexed to the new province of Lecco.

Symbols and Honors

The city's symbol consists of the coat of arms of the Benaglio family and the Rossino Castle. Calolziocorte has received various recognitions, including the "Blue Flag Municipality Award" for commitment to sustainable tourism.
