Located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Buttrio (or Buri in Friulian) is a city rich in history and culture. With a population of 3,878 inhabitants, it is famous for its prestigious wines and for being the headquarters of the Italian multinational Gruppo Danieli.
Origin of the name
The name Buttrio derives from the pre-Roman word "burrone" or "pit", and is mentioned for the first time as Butrium in 1000.
History
The coat of arms and the banner of the municipality were recognized respectively with DPCM of May 20, 1960, and DPR of August 4, 1960.

The population of Buttrio has undergone a slight decrease in recent years mainly due to the decrease in births.
