Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a beautiful Italian municipality in the province of Lecco, Lombardy: Bulciago. With a population of 2909 inhabitants and located in Brianza, Bulciago is a lovely place on two hills at the intersection of the SS36 and the former state road 342 Briantea.
Physical geography
Bulciago is crossed by the Molinello and Rio Gambaione streams which join together to form the Bevera stream (a tributary of the Lambro) of Bulciago, which in turn is a tributary of the Lambro river. Nature is one of the most beautiful treasures of the municipality, with rivers, streams, and hills that create an authentic and suggestive landscape.
Origin of the name
But let's talk about the name: Bulciago comes from a "Bubulcius", meaning the land of Bubulcio, perhaps a famous Roman leader. Don't you also find it fascinating to discover the origins of words and names we use every day?
History
Bulciago is an ancient land that preserves important traces of its history. In the territory, there are Gallo-Roman and Lombard tombs with relevant artifacts and in 1233 the municipality adopted its own statutes. During the Duchy of Milan, Bulciago was part of the "Feudo delle Tre Pievi", first entrusted to the Brebbia family and then to the Sormani family. Even a Bulciago resident, Eligio Panzeri, participated in the expedition of the famous Mille!
Symbols
Would you like to know more about the Bulciago coat of arms? It is very sober and simple, but has a precise history and meaning. According to documents, the coat of arms represents the agricultural and industrial characteristics of the municipality of Bulciago at the time of its creation. The golden cogwheel symbolizes the industries that were built in Bulciago, bringing prosperity to the workers. The underlying silver band represents the complex road system, while the blue border recalls the course of the Lambro river that flows near the municipality. In short, each color and symbol contains a part of the nature and history of Bulciago.

Bulciago also houses some ancient monuments, such as the Santo Stefano church from the 8th and 9th centuries, that of San Francesco from the 17th century, and the parish of San Giovanni Evangelista from the 19th century, built on the demolished 16th-century church.
