Bubbio

Welcome to Bubbio!

Hello everyone! Today I will talk to you about Bubbio, a beautiful Piedmontese municipality with about 805 inhabitants located in the province of Asti.

Characteristics

Bubbio owes its name to its position at the crossroads of Roman roads between the Valle Bormida and the Astigiano: in fact, it derives from the Latin "bivium", which means "crossroads". This small village is immersed in the green countryside of Langhe and is characterized by old houses that are located on either side of the thirteenth-century Via Maestra, delimited respectively by the castle and the parish church. In addition, Bubbio is crossed by numerous hamlets, alleys and staircases that create suggestive glimpses and enchanting stone corners forgotten by time.

History

Bubbio, like all medieval villages, has a very ancient history: probably founded during the Roman period, it has undergone numerous historical and military events that have marked its destiny. Currently, it is possible to admire some buildings dating back to the medieval period, such as the castle tower and the thirteenth-century parish church dedicated to St. John the Baptist.

Symbols

The symbol of the municipality of Bubbio is the Latin motto "Dulcia promam", which means "let sweetness come from me". This motto refers to the white grape that is the typical product of the territory, in particular of Moscato bianco.
