Discovering Riscone: the hamlet of Brunico

Hello friends, today we discover together the hamlet of Riscone, located just 2 km from the city of Brunico, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. This small village is mainly famous for hosting the valley station of the ski lifts to Plan de Corones, where you can practice one of the most beautiful winter sports: skiing. But there's much more to discover, starting with its monuments!

Monuments and places of interest

Riscone is a very ancient village, its history dates back to around 1050, as mentioned in records. The Rischon castle gives its name to the village and is still present in the hamlet, although not visitable as it is a private residence. Another castle near Riscone is the Lamberto castle, also privately owned. But the architectures of greatest interest are the churches, such as the Church of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles in Brunico, easily reachable from Riscone.

Sports

The sport that reigns in Riscone is skiing. The cable car is open all year round, offering a starting area for excursions on Plan de Corones, from which you can enjoy a 360° panorama. Riscone has been chosen by different football teams, including Inter, for their summer retreat ahead of the Italian Football Championship. But not only that, even the Slovenian National Football Team chose Riscone as a place to prepare for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Notes

Riscone is a small hamlet, but rich in history and interests, especially for lovers of skiing and sports in general.
