Welcome to Briona
Hello everyone and welcome to Briona, a municipality in the province of Novara in Piedmont, Italy. Briona has a population of around 1106 residents and takes its name from the Latinized Celtic term "Brigodunum", meaning "fortification in height". It is located on the border between the plain and the Novarese hills and is crossed by the Strona di Briona torrent, the "rio Nocca" (a tributary of the Strona), and the Roggia Mora.
But what distinguishes Briona are its monuments and local products. In this article, we will take a walk through the places of interest in the village, discovering its typical products and the history of its administrations.

Civil architecture
Last but not least is the medieval bridge, dating back to the 13th century, which crosses the Roggia Mora near the Proh district. This mule-back bridge with a single arch was a place of collection of taxes and customs duties during the medieval economy, but now it is in a serious state of abandonment.
