Boschi Sant'Anna

Welcome to Boschi Sant'Anna!

Hello everyone! Today I want to tell you about a beautiful municipality in Veneto, called Boschi Sant'Anna, which is a small gem worth visiting. With its 1362 inhabitants, Boschi Sant'Anna is the second smallest municipality in the province of Verona, after Concamarise.

Physical Geography

Nestled in the Veronese countryside, Boschi Sant'Anna is located about 45 km southeast of Verona and only 6 km from Legnago, the nearest town. It is composed of the main town and the hamlets of Boschi San Marco and Oni (Boschi Sant'Anna). In the area there are some districts such as Belfiore, Faro and Sabbioni, as well as many courtyards and farmhouses. Despite its limited size, the village is surrounded by lush and uncontaminated nature.

Boschi Sant'Anna: nature and history in the province of Verona

Etymology

Do you know where the name Boschi Sant'Anna comes from? It seems that centuries ago, during the Republic of Venice, the territory hosted a large forest that was used to cut wood to be brought into the city. The place was so important for Venice's economy that the Republic decided to dedicate two existing centers in the area, Boschi Sant'Anna and Boschi San Marco, to two very important religious figures for the lagoon city (Anna, mother of Mary, and Saint Mark the Evangelist).

Coat of Arms

The symbol of the municipality is a silver coat of arms. In the center there is a horizontal blue stripe and a star, also blue, located in the center of the letters S and A. In the lower part, a uprooted tree is depicted. The coat of arms represents the topographic and historical elements of the community, such as the course of the Adige River (represented by the blue stripe) and the dense vegetation that characterized the area (represented by the tree).

History

Although there is nothing left of the ancient splendor of the small community of Boschi Sant'Anna today, the territory was historically very important. In the past, in fact, the area was crossed by the Adige River which caused many floods. In addition, an important Roman road, the "Vicinalis" road, also passed through here.
