In 1746, during the War of the Austrian Succession, the French-Genoese army defeated the Austrian troops in the Bocco Pass, an important battle for control of the region.
During Napoleon Bonaparte's French domination in 1797, Borzonasca became part of the Entella department and later of the V Canton. In 1815, the city was incorporated into the Kingdom of Sardinia and subjected to the division of Genoa.
