Population Evolution

Borgo San Martino has an interesting history dating back to the Middle Ages. Over the years, the municipality has undergone numerous demographic changes. For example, in 1861 it had only 1,299 inhabitants, but in the '30s, the population increased to 1,729 inhabitants. Today, Borgo San Martino has about 1,411 inhabitants.

The municipality has seen several administrations over the years. Here is a table showing the administrations that have succeeded each other over time:

Sports

Borgo San Martino has a very important football team for the local community: San Carlo. This team took its name from the homonymous Salesian College located in the town center. In 2021-2022, a new football team was born chaired by the young Parish Priest Don Simone composed of young people from Borgo and neighboring villages, called BSM. This team plays in the Amateurs section of the province of Alessandria.

Local events

Every year, in the second weekend of June, the "Festa delle Fragole" (Strawberry Festival) is celebrated, an unmissable event in Borgo San Martino for almost 100 years, organized by the local proloco. The festival lasts three days and culminates with the election of "MISS FRAGOLA" and her bridesmaids.
