The town is nestled at the foot of the Apennine mountain range in the Ensa valley, a tributary of the Sieve river. Climate
In the twenties of the twentieth century, a hydrotherapy plant was opened in Ronta, which was later decommissioned. Thanks to this plant, Ronta became a popular climatic resort. If you need to relax in the middle of nature, this place could be the perfect choice for you.
History
Ronta was under the Florentine Republic. The church of San Michele, one of the main attractions of Ronta, was rebuilt on the ancient Vallombrosan abbey in 1715-1721 at the behest of Cosimo III de' Medici. Inside the church, you can admire eighteenth-century paintings and a fifteenth-century crucifix, which the faithful consider miraculous.

The Church of San Michele is not the only church you can visit. In fact, at the cemetery, you will find the remains of the old Church of Santa Maria a Pulicciano. These remains are there to remember the old church, which was very important for the community of Ronta in the past.

Ronta also boasts some historic villas, including Villa Edlmann, Villa Liccioli, dating back to 1232, Villa Gerini in Borgo San Lorenzo, from the eighteenth century, and Villa Pananti Moretti, which recalls the poet Filippo Pananti.

Traditions and folklore
Every year, on the last Sunday of September, the festival of the patron saint, San Michele, is organized. The festival includes a series of games and a parade of allegorical floats, in which the four districts into which the town is divided participate: the Poggio-Pulicciano District (green color), the Fondaccio District (red color), the Ronta Alta District (blue color), and the Madonna dei Tre Fiumi-Razzuolo District (yellow color).
Sport
In Ronta, there is the A.S.D. Rontese football club, which participates in provincial championships. If you are a football enthusiast, you can go to watch a local team game.
