Bordolano

Discovering Bordolano, between art and culture

Hello everyone, today I want to talk about a beautiful municipality in the province of Cremona: Bordolano, or as it is called in the Soresinese dialect, "Burdulàan". Bordolano is a small village with just over 500 inhabitants, but it is rich in art and culture.

Monuments and places of interest

Borodolano: Treasure of art and culture.

Religious architecture

One of its main attractions is the church of San Giacomo Apostolo, a building dating back to the fifteenth century which has undergone various interventions over the centuries, such as those of the eighteenth century and 1846. If you happen to be in Bordolano, you cannot miss the façade designed in 1880 by Davide Bergamaschi, with wonderful canvases from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries inside. In particular, the "Deposition" by Vincenzo Campi, dated 1570, is a work of great historical and artistic value.

Not far from the village there is also the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Snow, a small building overlooking the road to Castelvisconti.

Civil architecture

But Bordolano is not only about religious history. There is a beautiful villa, Villa Zaccaria, now known as Villa Bonfiglio, which dates back to the sixteenth century and was built by Pope Gregory XIV for his sister and nephews Crotta. The villa then passed to the Marquis Zaccaria. It is worth visiting to admire its large park, but also the frescoes by the famous painter Sebastiano Galeotti inside the main hall.
