After the unification of Italy, it continued to belong to the province of L'Aquila until 1927, when it entered the newly established province of Rieti, becoming part of Lazio.

Symbols

The coat of arms and the flag of the municipality of Borbona were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on March 28, 1989. The flag consists of a white cloth.

The population of Borbona is small, but welcoming and warm. According to ISTAT data as of December 31, 2015, the resident foreign population was 37 people.
