Physical geography: where is Boccioleto located

Boccioleto is located in the lower part of the Val Sermenza, at the entrance of the Val Cavaione, an area rich in forests and mountain cliffs. One of the most characteristic places in the landscape is the so-called "tower of Giavine", a huge monolith of gneiss that is about 90 meters high.

Boccioleto: serenity in Piedmont amidst history and nature.

History: noble families and uprisings

Walking through the village, you can still admire historic homes with characteristic loggias and stone roofs that date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, demonstrating the presence of noble families who once lived in the town. Among these families, stands out that of Giacomo Preti, known as "il Giacomaccio", who led the uprisings against the dominance of the notables of Varallo.

Symbols of the municipality

The coat of arms and flag of the municipality of Boccioleto were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on March 1, 1968. The coat of arms depicts the tower of Giavine, while the flag is a blue banner.

Monuments and places of interest: churches, oratories, and frescoes

The vast territory of the municipality of Boccioleto is rich in churches, oratories, and chapels that house a vast heritage of frescoes. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul dates back to the 14th century and has been subsequently renovated. It preserves an eighteenth-century entrance portal and inside, a single nave with four side chapels, a decorative apparatus rich in frescoes, paintings, and wooden sculptures.

The Oratory of the Annunciation, currently deconsecrated and transformed into a deposit of works of art recovered in the territory, still preserves an important decorative apparatus, including a carved and gilded altar by Francesco Antonio d'Alberto from Boccioleto and a fresco by Antonio Orgiazzi. Among the numerous works of art preserved in this oratory, there are a pair of portable altars from the 16th century, a group composed of seven wooden statues depicting the "Lamentation over the Dead Christ", and seventeenth-century wooden statues that adorned the altar of the oratory of San Quirico in the village of Palancato.
