Bisuschio
Hi friends, today I want to tell you about the history of Bisuschio, a municipality in the province of Varese in Lombardy.
History
Prehistory and Protohistory
Bisuschio is located in Valceresio, a valley that connects Lake Lugano with the city of Varese. Evidence of prehistoric life has been found in various parts of the valley and there seems to have been a sect of Druids who took care of burying the dead.
Early Middle Ages
The valley then came under the rule of the Roman civilization who held it for many centuries, resisting the pressures of the Barbarians. The name Bisuschio probably derives from the Latin Bis-ustum, which means "burned twice."
Late Middle Ages
From the 13th century, Bisuschio followed the events of the Duchy of Milan and was granted in fiefdom to various families, including the Arcimboldi, Borromeo, Litta, and Arese. During this period, the Mozzoni family arrived in Bisuschio and modified the appearance of the town.
