Climate
The Mediterranean climate ensures hot and dry summers, while winters are cool and characterised by intense rainfall. Average annual temperatures range from 14°C to 30°C, with average rainfall of about 741mm.
Origins of the Name
Until 1776, the commune was known as Mezzagno, but later took on the name Belmonte, in honour of its founder Giuseppe Ventimiglia. In 1864, the name Mezzagno was added once again.
