Tisoi
Tisoi: a beautiful hamlet in Belluno
Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you about Tisoi, one of the hamlets in Belluno located to the north of the city, about 6 km from the center, on the right bank of the Piave river, at an altitude of 559 m above sea level.
History
The history of Tisoi is very ancient and dates back to at least 1430, when the autonomous suburban chaplaincy of San Severo di Ravenna and Tisoi was established, independent from that of Bolago and Sois-Antole. From that moment on, a chaplain went to Tisoi to celebrate Mass in the churches of San Severo, Santa Giustina and San Nicolò in Zei.
Parish
The Church of San Severo is one of the main attractions of Tisoi. Its history dates back to the thirteenth century and the church has been rebuilt several times over the centuries. Today the church is an imposing and interesting building to visit.
Mountains
Tisoi is in a privileged position at the foot of Mount Talvena-Tesa, at 1502 m above sea level. Other mountains overlooking the village are Mount Serva, at 2133 m above sea level, and Pala Alta, at 1933 m above sea level. Both peaks are included in the Belluno Dolomites National Park. From Tisoi you can also admire Mount Terne, 1794 m above sea level, and the summit of Schiara with the Gusèla del Vescovà.
Traditional activities
Tisoi was known in the past for activities related to the mining industry of millstones, used for grinding and sharpening. Today, however, there are more peaceful activities, such as a cheese factory producing cow's milk cheeses. You can find some really delicious cheeses to taste!
Sports activities
If you are a football fan, Tisoi is the right place for you! There are many football fields, but the one in Tisoi is particularly beautiful. The football team "G.S. Schiara," one of the most famous teams in the area, trains here.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Tisoi is a beautiful hamlet in Belluno, rich in history, culture, and traditions. If you love mountains, nature, football, and good food, then you cannot miss a visit to this wonderful place!
