Beinette: History and beauties of a Piedmontese municipality.

History

Beinette has ancient roots dating back to the Ligurian era, when the Bagienni tribe settled in this territory. Even during Roman domination, Beinette remained a place of importance for its artistic beauty. In the Middle Ages, the toponym reappeared in official documents thanks to a donation made by a local resident to the bishop of Asti.

During the Renaissance, Beinette passed from the bishops of Asti to the Marquises of Busca, then to the Lords of Forfice and finally to the Lords of Morozzo. In 1385 it became a free municipality and was then conquered by the Marchesato del Monferrato and finally by the Savoy.

In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Beinette suffered countless damages and occupations due to the war events that affected the fortress of Cuneo.

Places of interest

The castle of Beinette, dating back to the eleventh century, represents one of the most interesting places to visit. Located on top of a slight elevation of the terrain, the building has undergone numerous external modifications, but inside it maintains much of its original structure. The square tower that overlooks the main body of the building is the only trace left of a medieval village.

The historic center of Beinette is characterized by numerous churches, such as the Church of San Rocco, the Parish Church of San Giovanni Battista and the female monastery Santo Stefano del Lago, under the jurisdiction of Asti's Sant'Anastasio.

Lake Beinette, located near the inhabited center, represents a place of relaxing natural beauty, where you can spend moments of peace and tranquility.

Conclusions

In conclusion, Beinette is a magical and suggestive place, located in a territory rich in history and natural beauty. Within its walls, there is a priceless artistic and historical heritage waiting to be discovered to uncover the roots of Piedmontese culture. I hope that in the future you will be able to visit this splendid place, perhaps while enjoying the beautiful view of Lake Beinette.
