Battuda

Welcome to Battuda!

Hello everyone! Today I'm talking to you about Battuda, a small municipality with 683 inhabitants located in the province of Pavia, in Lombardy. We are in the plain between the Ticino River and the Naviglio Pavese, in the northwest of the region.

A history stemming from the dialect

The name Battuda comes from the local dialect, in which "batüda" or "batüva" refer to the beaten fields and roads. The municipality has belonged to the territory of Pavia since ancient times and was part of the "Campagna Soprana" of Pavia. Throughout the centuries, it was a fiefdom of various noble families, including the Pallavicino, Isimbardi, and Bellini of Milan. In 1872, it was established by the merger of the municipalities of Battuda, Torradello, and Torrino.

The coat of arms and flag of Battuda were granted by decree of the president of the Republic in 1992. The coat of arms depicts the letter B, and there are stars, symbolizing the Isimbardi family who once ruled the territory. The flag is yellow.
