Bastida Pancarana
Hello friends, today I will talk to you about Bastida Pancarana, a municipality in the province of Pavia in Lombardy. With its 981 inhabitants, it is located in the plain of Oltrepò Pavese, on the right bank of the Po River.
History
Bastida Pancarana has a long history. In the 14th century, it belonged to the fief of Pancarana, in the lordship of the Diocese of Pavia. It was thought to be located north of the Po, in the Lomellina region. However, administratively it remained united with Lomellina until 1800, although by the 16th century it had passed to the Oltrepadana shore. It was born as a fortified port and, in the 18th century, it had become a large village that extended to the northeast of the current center. At the end of the century, the floods had reduced Bastida to a small sector, and from there it resumed its expansion in a more disorderly way to the west and south. Over the years, the parish church was also rebuilt in a more protected position.
Symbols
The coat of arms and the banner of Bastida Pancarana were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on September 18, 2002. The composition of the coat of arms recalls the Po River and the fractions that make up the municipal complex. The banner is a blue cloth.
Society
Demographic evolution
Bastida Pancarana has a population of 981 people and this figure has remained substantially stable over the years. Most of the inhabitants are elderly, while young people tend to move to other cities for work and study.

The administration of the municipality can count on a mayor and a city council that deals with managing school services, culture, sports, parks and gardens, citizen services, social services, security, commerce and production activities.
