Baricella: Discovering the town in the metropolitan city of Bologna

History
The name of the municipality derives from the figure of the "bargello", officials in charge of police activities and fiscal control, who had their headquarters in Baricella in the fourteenth century. The symbol of the municipality is an unofficial coat of arms, without official concession: it depicts a boat, a fish, and the Capo d'Angiò, the symbol of the Guelf party, taken from the coat of arms of Bologna.

Pietro in Casale, Malalbergo and Baricella Environmental Biotope and Restoration Protection Area.

The demographic evolution of the municipality of Baricella has been constant over the years, with a slight increase in population between the 1970s and 2000s. Today, the municipality has a population of about 7,000.
