Bareggio is a municipality located in the Metropolitan City of Milan, with a population of around 17,000 inhabitants. The communal territory is elongated and borders numerous municipalities, including Cornaredo, Cusago, and Sedriano. It does not have any frazioni, but has a locality called San Martino di Bareggio. The commune is approximately 11 kilometers away from the Lombardian capital.

Bareggio has been classified as zone 4 (low seismicity) commune by the National Department of Civil Protection. The climate is of a continental type, with cold and foggy winters and hot and humid summers with the phenomenon of meteorological Afa.

The commune belongs to climatic zone E, with an annual rainfall of more than 1000 millimeters, concentrated mainly in autumn and spring. However, despite poor ventilation, data from the Milan Malpensa meteorological station indicate that the average temperature of the coldest month, January, is around -4°C, while that of the warmest month, July, is around 28°C.

It is located near the only bell tower in the town and was built between the 11th and 12th centuries.

The Bareggio railway station is located on the S6 line of Ferrovie Nord Milano and offers panoramic views of the hills of the agricultural park. Furthermore, the city is well-connected to the public transport network with buses that connect Milan, Cusago, and Rho Fiera.
