Frontignano
A brief introduction to Frontignano
Frontignano is a small hamlet located in Barbariga, in the province of Brescia. It is not a particularly famous destination, but it has an ancient and interesting history to be discovered.
The history of Frontignano
Frontignano is an agricultural village with ancient origins. It seems that the area was already exploited by the Romans since the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. Human presence is also attested by the discovery of a Roman-era green porphyry axe. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the village began to be mentioned in official documents, such as the "Liber potheris" of the city of Brescia. In 1834, the Austrians revoked Napoleon's order that had made Frontignano a hamlet of Barbariga. After the unification of Italy, the hamlet had a good demographic growth and an autonomous life until its suppression during the fascist period.
