The first news about Baldissero Torinese dates back to the 12th century when it was granted as a fief to the bishop of the Archdiocese of Turin, Federico Barbarossa. Over the centuries, the municipality changed ownership several times, until it was erected as a municipality in 1694.

In the 18th century, the Parish Church of Santa Maria della Spina was built, which is an example of Piedmontese Baroque style. Starting from the post-war period, however, the municipality underwent a strong decrease in its population, as most of the inhabitants moved to the nearby city of Turin.

In recent years, the municipality has seen an increase in its population thanks to the interest of many city dwellers in moving to the tranquility of the countryside, building new residential villas next to traditional farmhouses.
