The municipality of Bagnasco, located in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont, is a place of great historical and scenic interest. Surrounded by hills and mountains, Bagnasco is an important road junction that connects the Tanaro Valley to the lateral valleys, such as Liguria through Massimino, the Colle dei Giovetti and Calizzano, and the Val Mongia through Battifollo.

Bagnasco is divided into two quarters: the Piano quarter and the Borgo quarter, which is the oldest and hosts the Town Hall. The area is characterized by the presence of remarkable fortifications ruins that dominate the village. A particular attraction is the noteworthy aerial bridge made of terracotta and stone that crosses the Tanaro river and supports a water channel.

During the winter, the microclimate of Bagnasco is the coldest and snowiest of the Tanaro Valley, thanks to its geographical position in a basin. In January, the daily average temperature hovers around 0°C, with minimum temperatures that average around -6°C and maximum temperatures that can reach +6°C, even though on windless, clear nights, they can drop below -10°C. In 2012, a record minimum temperature of -19°C was recorded. During the summer, temperatures can be particularly high during the central hours of the day, reaching over +30°C, but the nights are always cool with minimums that do not exceed +15/+16°C.

An Ancient and Interesting History

Bagnasco is a place of great historical interest, already mentioned in ancient Roman times when the Romans took control of Liguria and Piedmont. The town was named "Balneascum ad Tanarum" in Latin, and there is still an ancient Roman bridge perfectly restored that crosses the Tanaro river. Later on, the Romans built a fortification that was then demolished and provided the stone material for the construction of the new settlement of Bagnasco, "ex diruto Saracenorum castro."

Over the years, Bagnasco passed under the control of the Marquis Aleramo del Monferrato, the Marquis of Ceva, the Visconti of Milan, the Orléans, and various ladies, until finally coming under the control of the Casa Savoia in 1558.

The Coat of Arms of the Municipality of Bagnasco was granted by a decree of the President of the Republic in 2007. The Gonfalon is a blue flag.
